Root and Flourish

Holy Yoga - Bible Study - Retreats

What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways!...

His pleasure and passion is remaining true to the Word of “I Am,” meditating day and night in the true revelation of light.

He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of his life.

He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.

Psalm 1:1a, 2-3 TPT

Meet Sherry McWilliam

C-HYI 500, RYT 200

Sherry has a passion for creating space for others to deepen their relationship with God, receive healing in their body/mind/spirit, and encounter authentic community. She has found all of these things in her practice of Holy Yoga and loves to share that experience with others.

Sherry has been practicing yoga for most of her adult life, and has been teaching Holy Yoga since 2014.  She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and a Certified Holy Yoga Instructor (C-HYI 500).  Having a desire to learn more about the therapeutic benefits of yoga and how to make the practice accessible to a larger population, she has received the following specialty trainings:  Holy Yoga Therapy, Trauma-Sensitive Holy Yoga, Holy Yoga Touch techniques, Yin Yoga, as well as Senior/Chair yoga. Sherry is honored to serve as an Apprentice Shepherd for the Holy Yoga Foundation.  She is also a Teacher Member of Grace x Strength, an online Christian yoga platform.  Through this platform, you can practice with Sherry at any time and from anywhere in the world!

Why Holy Yoga?

...and what is Holy Yoga, anyway?

About Holy Yoga

Holy Yoga - or any form of Christian Yoga - is not a religion. Rather, it is a physical practice of aligning the body combined with breath work and mindful intention of reliance on God.  It is an experiential worship practice created to deepen people’s connection to Christ. Our sole purpose is to facilitate a Christ honoring experience that offers an opportunity to believers and non-believers alike to authentically connect to God through His Word, worship, and wellness. Holy Yoga exists to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth through the modality of yoga.

Is Holy Yoga for you?

Holy Yoga is right for you if you have ever considered the powerful and proven benefits of practicing yoga, but have been apprehensive about the intent.  Holy Yoga combines the proven benefits of a yoga practice with scriptural teachings and prayer.  It is an amazing opportunity to connect to and glorify God in your mind, body and soul.

This Yoga experience is a time of worship, praise, and connection to Christ practiced to contemporary and motivational Christian music.  It is an experience that teaches us to take time to love, nurture, accept, heal and grow ourselves in His Word and in His Spirit. All levels from beginners to advanced yoga practitioners are welcome.

"I find the scripture, devotions, and worship music create the perfect environment for meeting with Jesus.  Absolutely every time I go to Holy Yoga, the Lord speaks something to my heart.

It's an hour of focus and meditation and prayer.

I love it.  I need it.  I hate to miss it!!!"

Weekly Yoga Offerings

Yin/Vin Fusion

Mondays at 9:00 AM

A 75 minute class blending Slow Flow/Vinyasa and Yin yoga styles, giving your body a complete workout.  The midsection of the class will look much like a Slow Flow...moving with the breath in sequences designed to build strength and improve balance.  The beginning and end of the class will focus on more passive Yin postures, held for longer periods of time (usually 2-5 minutes). This allows for the strengthening and lengthening of deeper connective tissues, as well as creating space for contemplation and meditation.

Wednesdays at 9:00 AM

A 60 minute class focusing on soft and slow exploration of restorative and yin postures, gentle movement, and breath. This class is open to all levels of practice and abilities and is especially great for beginners, those searching for the therapeutic benefits of yoga, or just as an opportunity to let God's grace in.  Focus is on reclined and seated postures.  Appropriate for those seeking a trauma-sensitive yoga class (please let the instructor know this is what you are seeking).

Slow Flow

Fridays at 9:00 AM

This 60 minute class incorporates introspective, slow movements and focuses on linking breath with motion. This is a vinyasa-style class in which poses are held for several breaths, allowing for focus on alignment.  This class will not only help you gain flexibility, but will also increase strength and balance through standing sequences and core strengthening exercises.  Slow enough for all levels while giving the most advanced student the opportunity for growth.

Zoom Holy Yoga & Community

Fridays 9:00 am - 11:00 am

"Connecting with God can be difficult when you feel like your faith isn’t enough. With the Cycles of the Soul Bible Study, you’ll learn how to embrace each stage of your spiritual journey through the power of God’s love.  At the Holy Yoga Foundation, we know your soul longs for something more. You want renewal, and in order to have that, you need to journey with Christ. The problem is, growth is hard, and often leaves you weary and burnt out.  We believe God has a beautiful design for your life, which is why we created the Cycles of the Soul Bible Study." - The Holy Yoga Foundation

Cycles of the Soul is a four week study, starting on September 9th with Wednesday Zoom meetings at 1:00 pm with the Holy Yoga Foundation

To supplement this experience, I will be hosting Zoom Holy Yoga on Friday mornings (September 11-October 2) at 9:00 AM, immediately followed by a conversation around that week's study content until 11:00 AM.

I have chosen to not set a price on my Zoom yoga classes at this time.  However, if you feel led to provide a love offering, in support of my mission of helping others connect with Christ on their yoga mats, please use this link.  There is no obligation to do so...this is simply a means for those who feel led.
